— Rescheduled for Monday, February 3rd, 2014 —
Triton Central High School will host the 6th Annual “Pink-Out” Game on Tuesday, January 28 2014 against the Shelbyville Lady Golden Bears. The “Pink-Out” Game supports the I.W.I.N. Foundation (Indiana Women in Need). Come out and Join the Fight against Breast Cancer.
I.W.I.N Foundation’s Mission is – Giving Indiana women the strength to endure breast cancer treatment by providing individualized services and support. Last year the funds that were raised for the TC Pink-Out game was able to assist 21 women! Their Vision is – to be an innovative nonprofit organization, built on passion, dedication and integrity, where communities feel called to support our mission; to grow and be recognized as the “neighbor next door” to all Indiana women enduring breast cancer.
The idea for a “Pink-Out” game began in 2008 when Coach Bryan Graham and then senior player Kelsey Larkey were searching for new uniforms. While looking through a catalog, they came across pink uniforms and thought a game to benefit Breast Cancer Research/Survivors would be an excellent idea. Kelsey’s mother, Connie – a lifetime resident of the Triton Central area – had just experienced her second battle with the disease, and Coach Graham’s grandmother was a survivor as well. They contacted businesses to pay for the uniforms, and asked Connie to help organize the event. Over $47,000 has been raised from the “Pink-Out” games over the last five years. Our goal for this year’s event is to raise $12,000!
During the evening, area breast cancer survivors will be honored. There will be many opportunities to financially support the foundation throughout the evening including a dinner, silent auction and bake sale. These funds will assist women that have been diagnosed with breast cancer either with utility bills, groceries, prescriptions, wigs or whatever the need may be.
