On November 2, 2012, the Shelbyville Fire Department had responded to the Fairland area for a motor vehicle accident with Injury. A decision was made to transport two of the injured patients to St Francis South hospital. A member of the Fairland Fire Department assisted with driving the ambulance to the hospital when the ambulance was involved in a motor vehicle accident. As patient care continued, a request for an ambulance from the Greenwood Fire Department was made to continue the transport of the injured patients.
The injured patients from the Fairland crash were transported by Greenwood Fire ambulance without further incident.
The crash is being investigated at this time by the Johnson County Sheriff’s department. The Shelbyville Fire department personnel have returned to work and the ambulance sustained moderate damage.
